Samy promises a decent outing in theatres with Kangaroo

Samy, the director who made sizzling and controversial films such as Uyir (2006) and Sindhu Samaveli (2010), has built up a reputation of a director who deals in 'sleaze'. Though he also made Mirugam in 2007 which dealt with the ills of tobacco and liquor intake, the other two films which had sleaze as the main theme garnered him more publicity (albeit in a negative manner).

Samy is now back in films after a long gap and is now making Kangaroo which he promises would be very 'decent' and would qualify for 'family viewing'. The film's shoot is almost 80% complete, Samy has said and added that the film has so far been shot mostly in and around the hilly Kodaikanal region. V-House Productions, which produced Amaidhi Padai-2 recently, is producing Kangaroo.

New comer Arjuna plays the hero in the film opposite Varsha Aswathi of Peranmai fame (remember Thulasi, the girl in the 'Jayam' Ravi starrer?). Priyanka, Thambi Ramaiah, Kalabhavan Mani, R. Sundararajan and others form the rest of the cast. Playback singer debuts as music director with this film whose lyrics have been penned by veteran Vairamuthu.

A whole village had been erected on top of the Kodai hills. Sai Kumar has written the story while Samy has penned the screenplay and dialogues besides directing the film. Rajarathinam is the film's cinematographer. Producer Suresh Kamatchi has this to say about Kangaroo: "It's a film based on human relationships and the kind of solace and affection we displays on our close relatives. It also has a love story intertwined in the script and would appeal to all sections of the audiences."

The film's audio-launch would be held on 14th October at the Chennai Trade Centre at Nandambakkam. Suresh plans to make the audio-launch a grand-affair.
